The 1871 Rolling Block Pistols and Carbines are one of the most famous single-shot cartridge guns ever made. They had a robust and simple mechanism, which made them a perfect choice for rough and ready military use. Today’s high quality lightweight carbine is drawn from the action of the 1871 pistol, and resembles the Remington carbine "New Model No. 4" which was produced from 1890 to 1933. The pistol, with the same "rolling block" action, also has the same characteristics of the "1891 Target Pistol".
