The Model 712 Select-Fire version of the 96 "Broomhandle" Mauser Pistol, or Schnellfeuer, was widely used in China from the 1930's on. Its semi-automatic brother, made for police and military use in China, is now extremely rare. Original Mau ser 712 upper barreled receivers were converted to 9 mm parabellum, then mounted on semi-automatic lower receivers.
